The locals describe it as a ‘forgotten National Park’, but we would describe it as more of a ‘gem’!
What to do when you visit Big Bend National Park? You can take many hiking trails around the park; one considered the most rewarding is the ‘Santa Elena Canyon trail’. If the water is low, you can wade out into the water where 1500-foot-high walls line the way. There are hot springs in the Rio Grande Village area where you can dip into hot waters, pick up the pace, and take a canoe trip along the Rio Grande River.
